Akhisar House

Architectural Design:
Boran Ekinci Architects
Building Type: Residential
GIA: 500 m²
Location: Akhisar, Turkey
Design Date: 2010
Status: Completed 2011

The house consists of 3 main sections: The main house, the guesthouse and the maid’s house under one big concrete shell roof. The guest houses form one mass and the main house forms another. Between these masses we created a courtyard.
The shell roof is made of exposed concrete, thus creating a rough image in the landscape.
Large glass windows leading out into the garden compose a clearer perception between internal and external spaces. The house is built in the middle of a huge heath with no other buildings around, so we preferred a flattened plan and a single storey building.
